Job Title: Public Works Superintendent
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized individual for the role of Public Works Superintendent. This position is accountable for overseeing the daily operations of the Department of Public Works (DPW), Water Filtration Plant, Water Distribution, Wastewater Filter Plant and storm and sanitary sewer maintenance. Work is performed under the general direction of the Village Board. Supervision is exercised over the work of all employees of the departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll and Reporting:
- Complete payroll and manage employee time accruals accurately.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to the village board.
- Ensure timely submission of all necessary reports to federal and state agencies, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in municipal budgeting is essential.
- Public Communication:
- Provide public updates during meetings as required.
- Foster strong public relationships and communicate effectively with community members.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other municipalities to share services and enhance community support.
- Work closely with the Department of Health (DOH) for approvals related to municipal waterline installations.
- Municipal Infrastructure:
- Oversee and manage the implementation of the water line replacements, extension of storm and sanitary sewers, and other capital projects.
-Makes recommendations to the Village Board regarding major projects and need for material, equipment, and manpower
- Plan and supervise the construction, extension, repair and maintenance of streets and roads
-Directs removal of snow and ice from Village roads.
-Supervise the care and maintenance of parks, playgrounds, and cemeteries.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with various software applications.
- Background in municipal waterline installation and road maintenance.
- Experience in collaborating with health and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to coordinate and supervise the work of subordinates.
-Ability to work from plans, specifications, and blueprints.
