UPDATE AUGUST 11, 2026
FROM DPW SUPERINTENDENT CRAIG ROWELL
Official Update: Village of
Catskill Boil Water Advisory
Date: August 10, 2026
To: All Village of Catskill Water Users including Jefferson Heights, Leeds, and South Cairo.
Water Update:
To support our residents while working to restore our local water supply, the Village of Catskill and Greene County Emergency Services have partnered with NYS Homeland Security and Emergency Services to bring a potable water tanker directly to the village.
Where: Dutchman’s Landing Park (Back Lot)
When: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM Daily
Details: Clean, drinkable water is available. Please bring your own container (5-gallon max size).
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue working through getting the Water Treatment Plant up and running back to normal.
We are still trying to get past STEP 1 which is getting the turbidity under the NYS required amount and keeping it there for 6 tests.
From there the system will need to be flushed for several days and then have more water testing to be complete before THE DEPT of HEALTH gives us the ok to put everyone back online.
Why is it taking so long?
We have the largest Reservoir out of all surrounding municipalities. We received 11 inches of rain at the plant in under 5 hours really mixing things up.
