The Village of Catskill is reviewing all of our short-term rental permits currently filed with our code enforcement office. If you are past due on a renewal or operating without a permit you are subject to penalties and could lose the privileges to operate your short-term rental in the Village of Catskill. To obtain a permit or renew an existing one or for any additional questions please contact our code enforcement office at 518-943-6564 located on third floor of the Village building Monday through Friday 8am-2pm.

CHAMPLAIN HUDSON POWER EXPRESS

Dear Catskill Residents,

The Champlain Hudson Power Express(“CHPE”) project is a 339 mile buried HVDC transmission line that will transmit clean hydro power from the Quebec border to Queens. It is currently under construction across NY State including in the Town and Village of Catskill and elsewhere in Greene County.

As part of the construction of the project, CHPE will begin tree clearing in the Town and Village of Catskill on November 1^st.

The project teams will be clearing from Browns Crossing Rd south, across the railroad, behind the Greene County DPW property, along Allen Street, along the west side of Rt 9W up to Jefferson Street, along West Main South, across Willow Street, and up to Depot Street.

The properties being cleared have signed agreements with the CHPE project and have been compensated for removing trees. Property owners will determine whether trees will be replanted on their properties.

We apologize for any inconvenience and are committed to minimizing any impact on your comfort. Please use extra caution when traveling near these crews.

NOTICE REGARDING SNOW & SIDEWALKS

It is that time of year again where we begin to plan for the cold weather. Please be advised that as a village resident it is your responsibility to maintain and clear off sidewalks of all debris, snow, and ice.

Sidewalks, walkways, stairs, driveways, parking spaces and similar areas shall be kept in a proper state of repair and maintained free from hazardous conditions.

Village of Catskill Local Law: Duties and Liabilities of Owners and Abutting Owners as to sidewalks. It shall be in all cases the duty of the owner and abutting owner of every lot or piece of land in the Village of Catskill in good repair, and to remove and clean away all snow and ice within 24 hours from the end of any storm and to remove any obstructions from such sidewalk. Such owner and abutting owner and each of them shall be liable for any injury or damage by reason of omission, failure or negligence to make, maintain or repair such sidewalk, or to remove snow, ice or other obstructions therefrom, or for a violation or nonobservance of the ordinances or local laws relating to making, maintaining and repairing the sidewalks and the removal of snow, ice and other obstructions from sidewalks. Whenever the Village of Catskill is required to remove snow, ice or other obstructions from sidewalk the owner will be billed for the cost with and additional administrative fee of $100 for each violation. If not paid, the cost thereof shall be added to the owner’s village tax.
